LoveMusicPass – Member FAQs
- What is LoveMusicPass?
LoveMusicPass is a project led by the Royal Philharmonic Society, trialling a new nationwide pass which aims to encourage more people across the UK to attend a range of live music performances including classical, jazz, folk, world, opera and chamber music.
- What are the aims of LoveMusicPass?
LoveMusicPass has philanthropy at its core. As the scheme grows, membership revenue will be used to provide funding for special music-related projects, and to support LoveMusicPass partners in their educational and outreach initiatives. Our long term goal is to create a Music Fund to support live music in the UK while building increased attendance at live music events.
- Who is the programme open to? How many people do you envisage joining? How much does it cost to join?
Membership is open to anyone, with six month membership costing £20 for an individual and £30 for a joint membership. During phase 1 of the pilot we exceeded our target of 200 members, recruiting over 450. Membership recruitment continues.
- How does the scheme work for LoveMusicPass members?
LoveMusicPass members will be entitled to a range of offers, provided by our partner organisations. These might include priority booking, invitations to receptions, open rehearsals or discounted tickets.
- How do I access my offers?
LoveMusicPass offers will primarily be marketed through the LoveMusicPass website and through regular e-newsletters and social media. The website will enable members to search by city, dates, genres and venues. On joining, each member will receive a welcome note detailing their own personal login information, which can be used to unlock offer codes via the LoveMusicPass website. Currently these offer codes will be different for each partner organisation and will not be unique to individual members. Once you choose an event to attend, you will be connected directly to the partner organisation to book.
- What kind of arts organisations are involved?
Participation in LoveMusicPass is open to a wide range of arts organisations, large and small, representing the best of the UK’s musical offer.
- Is this offer focused on one particular genre of live music?
A number of our partners are orchestras; others are venues with a programme including a wide range of musical genres; others are specialists in jazz, folk or opera.
- Who are the pilot partners?
Phase 1 founder partners include The Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, Peckham Multi-Story Car Park, the 606 Club, Opera North, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Royal College of Music, Leeds International Concert Series, Leeds College of Music and Leeds Lieder. Since the launch in September 2016, LoveMusicPass has been continuing to sign up more partners; these include the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English Touring Opera, Seven Jazz and prestigious festivals such as Garsington Opera and Ryedale Festival. - I do not live in London or Leeds but am interested in joining. Are there any offers for me?
During phase 1, the pilot programme focused on arts partners in London and Leeds, and these partnerships will continue.
As a member, you can use your membership in any area of England where there are partner organisations with current LoveMusicPass offers. We also have an increasing number of offers from partners such as Opera Rara and Rhinegold Publishing that are not geographically specific.

- I am already a member of one of your partners’ friends schemes. How does the LoveMusicPass work for me?
We are delighted if our members already support our individual partner organisations. The LoveMusicPass programme has been designed to complement and support our partners’ existing membership schemes, by offering a different type of benefit across a range of organisations and musical genres. We are constantly evaluating the sort of offers that work best for our members, and which offers are most popular with the membership.
- How do LoveMusicPass members find out about the offers available?
All details of the LoveMusicPass offer are contained on the LoveMusicPass website, lovemusicpass.org. There is a special members’ only area of the website which sets out details of how to take advantage of the offers available.
In addition, members will receive regular newsletters highlighting upcoming events. The LoveMusicPass website and e-newsletters provide fresh and exciting content and an easy to navigate concert calendar, to make it easy for you to access concerts and their content.
- I was unable to access the LoveMusicPass offer when booking for an event
In several cases, the offers available are on a first come first served basis, and we are sorry if you have missed out on an offer. Please visit lovemusicpass.org for details of forthcoming LoveMusicPass events and offers.
Although every effort has been made to test the systems supporting the LoveMusicPass offers, it is possible that during the pilot there will be some teething problems.
