WOMEN CONDUCTORS

(Formerly “Women Conductors @ Morley”)

“Women Conductors with the RPS is doing something fantastic: a programme for women conductors led by the very gifted Alice Farnham. A chance to explore issues, musical and interpersonal, faced by the leader of an orchestra who happens to be a woman!”  –  Sir Antonio Pappano

As part of its wider mentoring programme, the RPS works with Women Conductors, an internationally award winning programme of conducting workshops. The Women Conductors programme is designed specifically to encourage more women to be conductors.

Co-founded by Alice Farnham and Andrea Brown, the two-day workshops are run on weekends throughout the year across the UK. Each workshop, with a maximum of 12 participants, is led by a celebrated female conductor – which in the past has included Jessica Cottis, Sian Edwards, Jane Glover, Julia Jones, Sarah Tenant-Flowers, Rebecca Miller and Andrea Quinn – supported by professional pianists and instrumental ensembles.

Phase 1: Workshops for full-time students / recent graduates (age 16+)
Phase 2: Workshops for music professionals and teachers
